The crow that’s afraid of me stopped coming to the tree.
The first one came as usual, ate, and called for the other. It replied from somewhere nearby, not too close. They called back and forth for a long time, the second one replying less often.
Finally, the second crow came, angrily cawed in the first crow’s face, then flew back to where it was. The first crow sheepishly followed it.
The next day, the first crow came early and ate, and left half the food. It went to the tree and called its mate. No answer.
It waited in the tree, calling occasionally, never getting a reply. After an hour or so, it ate the other half of the food. It resumed waiting and calling for 3 hours.
Eventually, its mate called it from far away.
The one in the tree did not respond. The mate called again, this time a little closer. No reply.
It called again, from directly behind the garage. Still no reply from the first crow.
Finally it flew to the tree and joined the first crow on its branch. They made burbling noises for a long while, and sat together in the tree until I left.
